Fillings: Composite & Amalgam

Composite (tooth-colored) Restorations

Composite Restorations are now widely used instead of amalgam (silver) fillings to repair teeth with decay and to replace old defective fillings. Composite restorations are also used to repair chipped, broken, or discolored teeth. This type of restoration is also very useful to fill in spaces between teeth and to protect sensitive, exposed root surfaces caused by gum recession.

Amalgam (silver) Restorations

Amalgam Restorations are still sometimes used in special situations. Dr. G will determine which restorative material best fits your needs.
