Teeth Whitening

Whitening procedures can effectively restore the smile of people with stained, dull, or discolored teeth.

As we age, the enamel layer becomes thinner causing the yellowish dentin layer underneath to show through. Certain foods along with caffeine and tobacco can also cause external tooth discoloration. These are the stains most easily lightened with whitening techniques.

Other stains are caused by traumatic injuries, medications and fluorosis which initiates inside the tooth; brushing and flossing will not remove them and whitening may have little or no effect.

Whitening agents have a difficult time removing brownish or grayish stains. These products also are not as effective on pitted or badly discolored teeth, or on restorations such as crowns, bridges, bonding and tooth-colored fillings.

Due to the different types of stains and restorations, the doctor will see you first for a free consultation to determine if you are a good candidate for the procedure.

Professional whitening performed by our office is considered to be the safest and most effective method.  We also offer a two week home gel system with custom trays made in our office. Over-the-counter whitening systems are another option as long as they are monitored and directions followed closely.

Our in-office Zoom whitening is completed in one visit. You will be given custom trays for future touch-ups at home.

The cost for Zoom is usually $499, but we periodically run a special for $299.
